Kawai CS3

The sound and feel of a grand piano, in a stunning polished ebony cabinet.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

The sound of a grand piano:
The beautiful sound of Kawai’s hand-built EX grand piano is at the heart of the new CS3, with all eighty-eight keys of this world-class instrument painstakingly recorded, analysed, and reproduced as high-fidelity digital waveforms.

Progressive Harmonic Imaging recreates the exquisite tonal character of Kawai’s peerless EX concert grand piano, ensuring smooth tonal transitions across the keyboard and throughout the entire dynamic range.

The touch of a grand piano:
The new Responsive Hammer action recreates the distinctive touch of an acoustic grand piano, with its realistic movement and rigid, springless design providing a smooth, natural, piano playing experience.

The weight of the keyboard is appropriately graded to mirror the heavier bass hammers and lighter treble hammers of an acoustic piano, while structural reinforcements within the action assembly ensure greater stability during fortissimo and staccato passages.

Ivory Touch key surfaces gently absorb finger moisture to assist the player’s performance, while let-off simulation recreates the subtle ‘notch’ sensation felt when softly playing the keys of a grand piano, satisfying the expectations of the most discerning pianists.

Supplied in polished ebony finsh with matching bench.

TOUCH
The Advanced Hammer Action IV-F keyboard has been developed to represent the distinctive touch of a traditional grand piano, with its remarkable springless design providing consistent upward and downward motion for a smooth, more natural, piano playing experience. Moreover, just as acoustic pianos utilise heavier bass hammers and lighter treble hammers, the AHA IV-F keyboard also employs different hammer weights, appropriately graded for each playing range. Such attention to detail allows greater stability during fortissimo passages, while preserving delicate pianissimo control, to satisfy the demands of even the most discerning pianist.

TONE
The authentic sound of KAWAI digital pianos begins with the world renowned KAWAI EX Concert grand piano. Placed inside an anechoic chamber, free of audio reflections, the rich sound of this world class instrument is meticulously analysed and recorded by our Master Piano Artisans. The acoustic portrait of each note is later transformed into a precise three dimensional digital representation, employing KAWAI’ s proprietary Harmonic Imaging™ technology. This unique process faithfully reproduces the broad dynamic range of the original grand piano, from subtle pianissimos to thunderous fortissimos.

FEATURES
The convenient lesson feature allows aspiring pianists to learn the piano using a built-in collection of etudes from Alfred's Piano Courses. The left and right hand parts of each piece can be practiced separately, adjusting the tempo to perfect difficult passages, before being recorded and played back for self-evaluation.

Yamaha CLP-480PE

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Supplied in the stunning Polished Ebony finish

A design that captures the presence of an acoustic piano:
A Clavinova has all the presence and beauty of an acoustic piano. Polished models offer a luxurious, classic piano finish while the colour variations available are designed to complement any room decor.

Real Grand Expression: the sensation of playing a grand piano:
Yamaha Real Grand Expression technology creates playing response and expressive capability similat to those of a grand piano. RGE combines three key elements: Sound, touch and pedals. The grand piano voices are created by sampling a Yamaha concert grand piano. A single piano was selected and finely tuned by a master piano technician. The result is a sound that captures both the beauty of each note and the harmonised sound of a single piano. The touch of a Clavinova has been meticulously refined using feedback from many pianists. Yamaha technology creates smooth and dynamic changes in tone according the strength of touch, replicating the expressiveness of a grand piano. Finally, the pedals are designed to complete the playing experience that only a Yamaha Clavinova can provide.

Intelligent Acoustic Control:
Intelligent Acoustic Control provides a full, balanced sound with rich lows and clear highs even at low volume. One of the joys of a Clavinova is that the volume can be adjusted to avoid disturbing others. However, playing at low volumes can make it difficult to hear bass and treble. The Intelligent Acoustic Control function automatically adjusts the sound and the volume control makes fine adjustments to the speaker system, ensuring that you can always enjoy the utmost sound quality even at low volumes.

A selection of instrument voices:
A Clavinova has many piano voices so that you can select the type of piano best suited to the musical genre you wish to play. In addition to acoustic pianos, you can enjoy the sound of electric pianos, including a Yamaha CP1 stage piano. Other instrument voices including classical organ, harpsichord and guitar are available while dual voice enables two sounds, for example piano and strings, to be combined giving the opportunity to play a wide variety of music.

A wide range of additional functions:
In addition to being compact and requiring no tuning, a Clavinova has a number of other useful features. Two headphone jacks offer the ability to listen in to a practice session or play duets in silence. A metronome, transpose function, brilliance control and digital effects such as concert-hall reverb and many other versatile features are also incorporated.

Two recording options offer maximum versatility:
Recording is a useful way to evaluate your performance and share with others. You can record at the touch of a button using up to sixteen-tracks. Playback tempo can be adjusted and performances can be stored on a USB memory device. In addition, this Clavinova has a USB audio recorder, which enables performances to be recorded as an audio track (WAV file format). Fret-King Super-Matic Guitar - Black

Fret-King’s self-tuning guitar; possibly the only “other” guitar you’ll ever need!

Additional DescriptionMore Details

The Fret-King® Super-matic™ self-tuning guitar, is the first ever guitar to feature the truly outstanding and innovative Wilkinson ATD HT440™ self-tuning hard tail guitar bridge.

Built with all the hallmark Fret-King® style and attributes, the Super-Matic™ is a very cool looking beast, cut from matched, two piece centre jointed American Alder, using heritage styling cues to create a subtly nuanced classic double cut body, with cosmetics redolent of the shared history with which we are all so familiar.

The 25 1/5” scale length, 24 fret, Hard Rock Maple neck, with it’s classic ‘Shallow C’ profile, matched to a premium, close grain Indian Rosewood fingerboard with a 10” radius, finished off with an immaculate fret job, using single cut, hand crowned medium jumbo nickel silver frets assures precision, comfort and provides a playing experience which can only be described as luxurious.

The Super-matic™ features a Hum-single-Hum pickup configuration, with Wilkinson WHHBZ33 offset pole piece ‘Zebra’ humbuckers, wound to a very authentic recipe and a Wilkinson WHSM ‘vintage voiced’ single coil middle pickup.

The combination of carefully voiced and balanced pickups, and the signature Wilkinson 'Vari-coil’ control, (which allows either of the humbuckers to be progressively wound down to single coil), creates an instrument with an
exceptionally versatile palette of sounds capable of literally any musical style.

In Gloss Black finish, complete with rectangular hardshell case, the ATD loaded Fret-King® Super-matic sets a whole new benchmark and opens up a host of new musical possibilities to expand any player’s performance horizons, and creativity.

The Wilkinson ATD™ self-tuning bridge, which has been under development by Trev and his team at ‘Auto Tuning Developments’ over many years, is a super low profile, real time electro-mechanical device utilising ultra hi-tech micro gearboxes, designed to retrofit unobtrusively in to a standard Strat® vibrato bridge rout, (or similar), with a micro hex pickup, controls small enough not to notice, and an intuitive one touch button controlling all the functions and features of this truly incredible device.

Invisibly incorporating the microprocessor control circuitry, the ATD™ bridge allows the player, with just one touch of the function button to automatically tune the Super-Matic™ to standard E-tuning.

Tuning status is confirmed in the hi-visibility display, designed to be viewed whilst playing, and overall tuning is assured with the built in chromatic tuner.

Press the function button again, strum, and let the ATD™ change the guitars tuning from standard E to open G, or change to DADGAD, then to open D - all in the space of just a few seconds, or recalibrate to five additional 'user created' tuning presets in just a few seconds more.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

The Jackhammer is the next step on from previous Marshall distortion
pedals. It contains our most extreme distortion levels to date,

the mids, but also choose the frequencies at which the scoop occurs.
This means that you can tailor your sound to your own individual

always natural and realistic, like a super high-gain valve head pushed
to the max.

The Jackhammer features two modes; Overdrive and Distortion.
Overdrive delivers an open crunch for that classic Marshall roar,

Marshall’s classic; high quality distorion pedal

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Launched in the 1980’s, the original Guv’nor became a classic
footpedal known for high quality distortion tones. Much loved by
pros, semi-pros and amateurs alike, the Guv’nor earned itself a
special place in the hearts of distortion smitten guitarists the
world over.

The new Guv’nor Plus is an updated version of the original
Guv’nor. Within the sturdy metal housing lies the tone, feel and
sound of the original Guv’nor, but with extra features specially
designed to add extra power and flexibility to cope with the
exacting requirements of today’s musicians. The tonal versatility
of the Guv’nor Plus is such that it is like adding another Marshall
amp to your existing set-up.

The expanded Gain structure allows you to steer your guitar tone
through many different styles. From natural sounding vintage
valve amp break-up, ideal for singing blues, to chunky JCM 800
classic rock tones, right through to modern day super-saturation,
for liquid sustain and grinding chords. In addition you will also
find a Deep control which adds a resonant bass boost, giving
you similar feel and response to the resonant thump of a
Marshall 4 x 12 cabinet.

The Guv’nor Plus features a passive bypass for the main signal
path to ensure complete tonal integrity and has a quality of tone
matched only by its versatility.

Marshall ED-1 Compressor Pedal

Does what it says on the tin, Marshall’s ED-1 Compressor compresses your sound and gives you extra sustain.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Compression is perhaps one of the most useful and versatile
effects available to any guitarist who is interested in improving
their tone.

The purpose of the Compressor pedal is primarily to allow you
to modify the sustain and attack of your guitar sound. Using
classic variable gain techniques the Compressor will provide
masses of clean sustain, which you can utilise whatever your
style. The Compressor pedal senses the level of the incoming
guitar signal and as the signal level decays the gain of the
internal circuitry is boosted to provide extra level and hence
sustain.

The attack control modifies the dynamic response of the guitar
signal (the effect of plucking a string) and allows you to
achieve a range of effects from rounded and mellow to
percussive and funky.

The Compressor also features an Emphasis control which
allows you to assign compression and target the frequencies
you want to compress. This means that you can, for example,
tighten up or compress your bass notes and let your treble
notes ring out.

The Compressor features a passive bypass for the main signal
path to ensure complete tonal integrity and has a quality of
tone matched only by its versatility.

Marshall BB-2 Bluesbreaker II Pedal

Use Marshall’s Bluesbreaker II  pedal for a vintage overdrive sound

Additional DescriptionMore Details

The Bluesbreaker II takes the philosophy of Marshall's original Bluesbreaker pedal one step further and features two modes,
Blues and Boost. This effectively makes it two pedals in one.

Boost Mode is designed with the vintage valve amp or ‘tone
purist’ type of guitar player in mind. If you don’t want to alter
the tone of your amp at all, but want to drive the front end
harder to push the amp further into natural overdrive. The
Boost mode features a clean boost controlled by the pedal’s
volume control, which will not affect your original tone. It can
also be used for boosting the signal which can sometimes be
lost when using long leads (particularly with single coil pickups).

Blues Mode is reminiscent of the tonal and distortion
characteristics of our non master volume amps such as the
classic Bluesbreaker combo from the 1960s. This Mode
produces a wonderful natural style overdrive for crunchy
chord work and singing single notes for truly inspirational
leads, all delivered with the warmth and tonality of those early
Marshalls.

The Bluesbreaker II features a true full passive bypass for the
main signal path to ensure complete tonal integrity and has a
quality of tone matched only by its versatility.

This professional sound system provides wide coverage, smooth tonal balance and a suite of studio-class effects and tone-shaping tools. And it's packed with proprietary Bose technologies designed to improve your amplified sound.

Overview:
•Recommended for most instruments and vocalists
•Spatial Dispersion™ and Articulated Array® speaker technologies
•Single-input power stand with retractable legs
•Four-channel ToneMatch® audio engine with studio-class effects
•One B1 bass module included

Sound advantages—only from Bose
The system's breakthrough loudspeaker produces wide, uniform sound coverage of nearly 180 degrees—onstage and throughout an audience of up to several hundred—with little dropoff in volume and tone.

The Model II system also features Articulated Array speaker technology for better tonal balance. The loudspeaker's 24 vertically mounted drivers are precisely angled to create clearer highs and more consistent tone in the room. Even people off to the sides of these stage speakers enjoy well-balanced, detailed sound.

Powerful multichannel audio engine
Combining the T1 ToneMatch audio engine with your L1 concert speakers gives you exceptional amplified tone and sound processing capabilities. The compact, four-channel engine provides fingertip control of our largest library of ToneMatch presets. Just touch a button to make hundreds of precise refinements to the sound of instruments and microphones.

The engine also features a complete suite of studio-class reverbs, additional effects and dynamics processing. It connects to the L1 Model II system via a single digital cable for quick, streamlined setup.

Deep bass from small enclosures
Bose L1 Model II systems come with one B1 bass module to ensure more accurate amplification of lower notes for most voices and instruments—including guitars, keyboards and various horns. The double bass package is recommended for use as a bass guitar amplifier, and for kick drums and DJs.

B1 bass modules are considerably lighter and smaller than conventional bass bins required for the same performance. Power up to two bass modules on a single power stand. Add two more bass modules to the system with an optional PackLite® extended bass package.

Light and easy
The L1 Model II power stand weighs only 24 pounds, and its four retractable legs make it very easy to transport and set up. The power stand also has a simplified control section; the single line-level input can be used with instruments, mics, mixers, laptops, MP3 players or DVD systems.

All of the system's components are also built to handle the road. The loudspeaker has a rugged, reinforced grille, and each package includes padded carrying bags for major components.

Features:
Spatial Dispersion™ and Articulated Array speaker technologies in the loudspeaker produce wide, uniform sound coverage. The 24 small drivers are arranged using Articulated Array speaker technology in a slim, vertical enclosure—creating nearly 180 degrees of horizontal coverage and consistent tonal balance. The loudspeaker's two-piece, interlocking design makes for quick and easy setup, breakdown and transport.

Integrated power amplifiers in the power stand provide clean, precise amplification for L1 Model II system with up to two B1 bass modules.

ToneMatch® port on power stand for digital audio and power connection to ToneMatch audio engine.

Analog input, trim control and signal/clip LED for line-level analog input via ¼" TRS phone cable. Can be used for instruments or other audio sources like DJ mixers, MP3 players, computers or DVD systems.

Bass module out for amplified bass output signal to one or two B1 bass modules. L1 system automatically adjusts equalization appropriately when bass modules are connected.

Bass line out delivers post-DSP bass signal output. Accepts ¼" TRS phone cable. Use to connect powered subwoofer, additional amplification system or Bose® PackLite® amplifier with up to two additional bass modules.

Retractable legs provide stability for streamlined L1 Model II power stand and loudspeaker. Four retractable legs fold out of power stand simultaneously for quick setup and compact transport.

Bass module
Compact, lightweight enclosure is easy to transport, set up and break down. Small footprint takes up considerably less space than traditional bass cabs required for same performance. Interlocking feet let you securely stack up to four modules together on their sides.

Highly efficient speaker design features two 5.25" (13.3 cm), high-output, high-excursion drivers that produce deep, strong bass from a small enclosure. When connected to power stand, active equalization circuitry automatically adjusts bass signal appropriately.

ToneMatch audio engine:
Integrated ToneMatch audio engine and audio technologies provide four independent channels featuring our largest library of ToneMatch instrument and microphone presets, proprietary zEQ and a complete suite of studio-class effects and sound processors.

Proprietary ToneMatch presets optimize L1 system to match intended natural sound of specific instruments and vocal mics. Over 100 presets are organized into quick-access banks and can be independently assigned to each channel. Free ongoing updates via USB connection between your computer and ToneMatch audio engine.

Proprietary zEQ automatically adjusts the range of tone controls to match your voice or instrument, making it easier to fine tune your sound. Conventional mixers may have fixed EQ ranges that don't accurately affect desired frequencies when adjusted. But zEQ appropriately redefines low, mid and high frequency ranges of specified sources.

Single-band ParaEQ centers on frequency you specify for each independent channel. Valuable tool for reshaping problematic frequencies in certain venues.

Five reverb types (small, medium, large, plate and cavern) available for global assignment, with individual channel controls for decay time, mix level and brightness.

Three delay types (analog, digital and tape) can be independently assigned to selected channels, with control over feedback time and mix level for each channel. For example, you can select tape delay for your vocal on channel 1 and analog delay for your guitar on channel 2.

Ten modulation effects (three chorus types, two flange types, four phaser types and one vintage tremolo effect) can be independently assigned to selected channels, with control over designated parameters for each channel.

Seven dynamics processing types (three compressors, limiter, de-esser, kick gate and noise gate) can be assigned to independent channels.

Scenes allow you to store, recall and edit "snapshots" of all key ToneMatch audio engine settings at any given time. This feature helps simplify setup when you're using an L1 system repeatedly in different venues. The engine includes five predefined Bose scenes, five My scenes and five Shared scenes you can give to other L1 owners.

Chromatic tuner for convenient tuning of instruments.

Large backlit display with intuitive layout and easy-to-read text for modes and settings.

Rotary encoder for quick access to modes, effects and parameters, including ToneMatch presets, zEQ, ParaEQ, reverbs, delays, modulators, dynamics processing, scenes and tuner. Features clean, circular layout.

Aux mode (channels 1 – 3) send channels' dry, pre-fader or post-fader audio to aux output for connection to additional L1 systems or recording devices. Independent level controls for optimal signal output.

Channel volume, mute and FX mute (1 – 4/5) for adjusting individual channel volume, muting individual channels and muting all effects on selected channels.

Master volume adjusts overall level of master output.

Phantom power applies +48V power to input channels 1 – 3 to drive specific microphones.

ToneMatch cable transfers audio signals and provides power to ToneMatch audio engine from L1 Model II power stand. Use the optional T1 power supply for connections to L1 Model I and Compact systems.

Mounting bar and carriage for securely attaching ToneMatch audio engine to L1 Model I or Model II loudspeaker.

Cover and carrying case help protect engine when storing and transporting.

Bose L1 Compact System

Carry it in one trip. Set it up in one minute. Fill the room with Bose sound.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Overview:

•Bose Spatial Dispersion™ loudspeaker technology delivers sound evenly across the stage and throughout the audience—even to the extreme sides

Includes:
L1 Compact Power Stand
L1 Compact Loudspeaker Array
2x L1 Compact Extensions
Power Stand Cord
Power Stand/Loudspeaker Array Cover
Extensions Carry Bag

Features:

Two ToneMatch channels with fixed presets for a handheld microphone and an acoustic guitar

Integrated bass speaker in power stand

Two setup positions: collapsed for smaller spaces or extended for larger ones

Ideal for musical performances, mobile DJs, classrooms, business presentations and other events

The L1 Compact system combines conventional PA and monitors into one sleek unit. Positioned behind or to the side of a performer, DJ or presenter, it delivers wide, even sound coverage throughout the stage area and audience—even off to the extreme sides. It's our smallest, lightest, easiest-to-set-up L1 system, weighing just 29 pounds.

Big sound. Small package: Now you can have quality Bose sound for almost any gig, event or occasion. The L1 Compact system is small enough to fit in your trunk or back seat, and its innovative modular design makes setup easy and fast. You can arrange it in either a collapsed configuration for smaller spaces or a taller, extended configuration for larger ones. No extra gear to haul. No heavy speakers to hoist onto stands. No speaker cables.

A different loudspeaker: The L1 Compact system's slim loudspeaker distributes sound clearly and evenly throughout the room, thanks to Bose Spatial Dispersion technology. The speaker's unusual vertical shape makes it distinctly different from conventional PA speakers?and has a very positive effect on sound coverage. Even audience and band members off to the extreme sides hear the same clear, tonally balanced sound as those in front.

The L1 Compact loudspeaker array is smaller than those in L1 Model I and II systems, but it produces comparable horizontal sound coverage. L1 Model I and Model II loudspeakers project sound further with less dropoff of volume than the L1 Compact array.

Integrated system: With the L1 Compact system, you don't have to carry a separate amplifier, mixer or bass cabinet: They're already built in. The system's power stand includes an integrated bass speaker and amplifier, plus a built-in mixer providing a total of four inputs and two outputs.

Channel 1 is a microphone input with a customized ToneMatch preset for a handheld dynamic microphone. The preset automatically optimizes a handheld microphone's tone when used with the L1 Compact system. Channel 2 accepts up to three inputs at once, including a guitar, keyboard or other instrument, DJ mixer, MP3 player, laptop or projector. It features a customized ToneMatch preset to optimize the sound of an acoustic guitar.

The L1 Compact system: audio performance, simplified setup and one-trip portability. Only from Bose.

Spatial Dispersion™ loudspeaker technology features six small drivers mounted at precise angles inside a slim, vertical enclosure. This proprietary Bose technology delivers nearly 180 degrees of horizontal sound coverage. Sound remains consistent even at extreme sides of the system.

Integrated mixer in the power stand provides one microphone XLR input on channel 1; channel 2 has one instrument input, one RCA stereo input and one 1/8" stereo input. Both channels have two-stage clip lights, volume controls and a customized ToneMatch preset. Rear panel has one 1/4" balanced line output and one RCA stereo output.

Integrated power amplifier in the power stand delivers clean, precise amplification for L1 Compact loudspeaker and bass enclosure.

PA and monitors are combined into one lightweight, highly portable system. Proprietary Bose technology enables the system to be positioned directly behind or to the side of a performer, eliminating the need for separate PA speakers, stage monitors and mixers.

Proprietary ToneMatch presets optimize the L1 Compact system for a dynamic handheld microphone (channel 1) or acoustic guitar (channel 2).

Two unique setup positions, extended (78.5"H) and collapsed (16.5"H), let you tailor the system's sound coverage for the room or event. For larger audiences, use the included loudspeaker extensions to elevate the array. For smaller gatherings and meetings, leave the array in its slot on the power stand and place the system on a tabletop.

Durable, lightweight, interlocking components make the system very easy to transport, set up and break down. The power stand weighs just 25 pounds, and the total system with loudspeaker and extensions weighs 29 pounds. No speaker cables, stands or bass modules required. The entire system can be set up in a minute or less.

Kawai CA 93

Elegantly designed, with the character and refinement of a traditional instrument, these impressive pianos entice musicians to perform, while inspiring even non-musicians to start playing, and will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression from the very first glance

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Available in Premium Rosewood or Satin Black and supplied with a matching bench.

Featuring the latest Ultra Progressive Harmonic Imaging sound technology, the new Concert Artists offer the most detailed acoustic portrait of any digital piano, with 88-key piano sampling ensuring smooth tonal transitions across the keyboard and throughout the entire dynamic range.

The new Concert Artists also introduce RM3 Grand – the most realistic digital piano keyboard ever developed – with finely textured Ivory Touch key surfaces and remarkable Let-off mechanism further enhancing KAWAI’s unique wooden-key action technology.

Finally, complementing these impressive advances in sound and action technology, the convenient USB Audio feature allows music files stored on USB memory to be played through the instrument’s speaker system, or for memorable performances to be recorded directly to MP3/WAV without leaving the keyboard.

The touch and tone of an acoustic grand with all the features and convenience of a digital: all new Concert Artists from KAWAI – the future of the piano.

The sound of a grand piano:
The KAWAI EX concert grand piano is widely regarded by professional pianists and piano technicians as the finest instrument of its class. Hand-built by our distinguished Master Piano Artisans at the Shigeru Kawai Piano Research Laboratory in Ryuyo, Japan, each EX instrument undergoes a meticulous regulation and refinement process within a specially designed anechoic chamber. Following this lengthy preparation period, the completed EX piano receives a final series of rigorous quality inspections, before eventually taking pride of place on the centre stage of the world’s most prestigious musical institutions and concert halls.

The beautiful sound of the EX grand piano is at the heart of the new Concert Artist, with all eighty-eight keys of this world-class instrument painstakingly recorded, analysed, and reproduced as high-fidelity digital waveforms. Recording each key individually in this way – as opposed to stretching the same tone over several different notes – ensures that the rich harmonic character of the original EX grand piano is preserved, and guarantees that the sound heard when pressing any one of the Concert Artist’s wooden keys is a faithful representation of the acoustic source.

When playing the piano, the amount of pressure applied to the keyboard not only affects the volume of the sound produced, but also the unique tonal character of each note. Therefore, in order to gather a realistic acoustic portrait of the EX grand piano, not only is each key recorded individually, but also captured at various different strengths, ranging from gentle pianissimo to thunderous fortissimo. The new Concert Artist offers the most detailed acoustic portrait of any digital piano, with Ultra Progressive Harmonic Imaging sound technology ensuring smooth tonal transitions across the keyboard and throughout the entire dynamic range.

The touch of a grand piano:
The keyboard action of an acoustic grand piano has remained largely unchanged for centuries, employing long wooden keys that rise and fall in a seesaw motion, to trigger hammers that strike metallic strings. It’s an intricate, yet beautifully designed mechanism that allows pianists to express a wealth of feeling and emotion in their playing.

The Concert Artist’s RM3 Grand action embraces the very same, long-established acoustic piano principles of material, motion, and mechanism to faithfully recreate the exceptional touch of a fine concert grand. First, all eighty-eight black and white keys are crafted entirely from long pieces of wood, with finely textured ivory-like surfaces applied to absorb moisture and assist control.

The centre of each wooden key sits upon a balance pin, rising and falling with gravity, for a consistent, natural motion that’s reminiscent of its acoustic counterpart. When pressed, the back of each key triggers a grade-weighted hammer, which in turn strikes a switch to play the note. Additional counter-weights placed at the front of the bass keys, help to lighten their heavier touch during pianissimo passages – again, another refinement borrowed from the acoustic piano action. While the new let-off feature even recreates the subtle ‘notch’ sensation felt when gently playing the keys of a grand.

MP3/WAV recording and playback:
USB memory devices can be used to play back MP3 or WAV audio files, allowing musicians to learn the chords or melody for a new piece, or to simply play along with their favourite songs. It is even possible to save performances as MP3 or WAV files for emailing to friends and family, listening to on an iPod, or for further editing using an audio workstation.

Soundboard Speaker System:
The CA93 is equipped with a unique Soundboard Speaker System. Embracing the rich, harmonic qualities of wood, sound energy is channelled onto a spruce soundboard to faithfully reproduce the unmistakable warmth and ambience of an acoustic piano. While the sound produced by normal ‘cone’ speakers typically resonates in circles from a central point, instruments such as guitars, violins and pianos, harness the acoustic properties of wooden boards, vibrating with the resonances of each tone for greater uniformity of expression. The Soundboard Speaker System adopts similar principles in order to enhance the sound reproduced by conventional speakers.

Touch curve:
Previously, when the normal touch curve didn't fit your playing style, the only solution was to choose one of the different touch curve presets in the piano. With the NEW User Touch Curve feature, you can CREATE your own touch curve. In User Touch Curve mode, you are asked to play dynamically from soft to loud to input your playing style. Then the piano analyses the data and creates the perfect touch curve specially made for you.

Virtual Technician:
A piano technician plays a very important role for an acoustic piano to be in the best playing condition for a pianist. Our VIRTUAL TECHNICIAN function does the same work digitally. You'll find Kawai's exclusive Virtual Voicing, capable of digitally "voicing" the piano sound. There are also controls for adjusting the action's Touch, String and Damper Resonance, as well as several other piano-specific settings.

User Memory:
You can easily customise your Concert Artist piano's initial settings. Choose a new starting instrument, favourite effect, touch curve, etc. Once you have the piano memorise it then you don't have to go through many buttons every time you turn the power on.

Dual, Split and 4 Hand Mode:
When you layer two sounds (Dual) or use different sounds on the left and right (Split), the balance control is convenient for quick and easy adjustment of the two sounds' balance. Moreover, you can adjust the octave range of the second sound (Layer Octave Shift, Lower Octave Shift) in DUAL and also in SPLIT mode. Also you can set up the dynamic behaviour of the second DUAL sound (Layer Dynamics), to let you avoid having too high a volume on it.
In Four Hand Mode you can split the keyboard in two halfs by having the same octave range on both parts. So two pianists (i.e. teacher and pupil) can play and practise together on only one instrument.

LESSON Function:
For the aspiring pianist, the Concert Artist Series features a recorded collection of standard practice and warm-up drills, with a companion music book containing major and minor scales, arpeggios and Hanon exercises also included. Moreover, the powerful lesson function allows performers to learn the piano using a built-in collection of etudes from Czerny, Burgmüller, Beyer and Bach, or songs from the popular Alfred Basic, Adult and Premiere (USA, Canada, Australia and UK only) course books. Each etude or song can be played at various tempos, practicing the left and right hand parts separately, before eventually recording a practice session for self-evaluation.

Reverb and Effects:
Five distinct reverb types simulate listening environments from private practice rooms to concert halls. Two special reverbs produce a 3D effect, surrounding you with sound from all directions. Digital sound effects such as delays (three types), Chorus, Tremolo and Rotary Speakers (two types) add to the remarkable realism of the Concert Artist sounds. You can adjust the digital effects and - for further use - save.

Metronome and drum rhythms:
In addition to the standard metronome click you can choose from 100 drum rhythms for your convenience on all three new CA models. Play along with a complete drum set. You can load various rhythms and change their tempo. Never before was practising so much fun.

Speaker and amplifier system:
The final stage in reproducing the exquisite tone of the EX grand piano relates to the physical delivery of the sound itself. The CA63 features powerful speaker systems that provide deep, resonant bass frequencies and clean, crisp trebles.

Touch curve :

User Memory :
